Each room here at Rhode Island House has a diary for our visitors to jot down notes, suggestions, impressions and anecdotes about their stay with us. Here are a few recent entries.

"Happiness is to come home on a stormy evening and find someone is already there and has made a fire, lightened the lamps and made everything feel cozy....
Happiness is when the potted flowers look like someone understood them and loved them....
Happiness is when someone makes your breakfast look like a work of art and taste like heaven....
Happiness is when a living room is gently filled with one of your favorite Mozart piano concertos....
Happiness is when someone has hidden the TV....
Happiness is when you get a candle to place on the mantelpiece on a stormy night when the power has gone out....

We will go back to Sweden and tell all those who deserve it what a great place we have found!!"

"I'm starting to feel human again. Thanks, of course, to the exquisite taste of Michael in both culinary and interior decorating arts. My soul is rested, my spirit rejuvenated. Look, I'm beginning to sound like a poet of sorts!

Truly, though, your hospitality to me defines the perfect balance of attentiveness and non-intrusion. We always leave feeling that we have been cared for, but never overseen. I guess that's why we come back every year. Well, no. It's the food!!"

"To Michael and the Rhode Island House staff, I don't think I could express in words how beautiful this place is. The only thing I could compare it to is heaven. The hospitality and the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful; and the food was amazingly decadent. This was our first time here and it sure won't be the last. Thank you so much for a weekend we will never forget, and we look forward to seeing you again."

"Reading back on previous entries, this home has brought much to many for multiple reasons.
For me, it is our quarterly retreat for our firm, a business purpose. Less than 2 years old, growing rapidly my partner and I contribute more to the success of the company during these getaways than at any other time. I would argue that the Inn, the atmosphere and the sophisticated luxury and service offered the perfect incubator to our ideas for 1999 and Y2K."
